About WRAL Azalea Garden

Capitol Broadcasting Company founder A.J. Fletcher created the WRAL Gardens as a service to the community. The WRAL Gardens opened to the public in 1959, three years after WRAL-TV went on the air as the first VHF station in Raleigh. The Gardens surround WRAL-TV’s studios on Western Boulevard in Raleigh , NC. The 5-acre property containing WRAL-TV’s studios, the corporate offices of Capitol Broadcasting Company and the WRAL Gardens sits near the corner of Western Blvd and Avent Ferry Road, only a few miles from downtown Raleigh. The Gardens, currently in the process of expanding, will eventually stretch from Western Blvd. to Centennial Parkway.

Absolutely gorgeous!! The smell of azaleas hits you immediately upon entering and they are EVERYWHERE. There are cool little structures throughout and several benches seated along the pathways for breaks. It’s much larger than what we see on tv. Definitely check it out!!! 🌺🌸🌺🌸

Beautiful garden with variety of flowers, nice pathways, great benches, chairs to sit and enjoy the nature, sculptures. Ample of parking and restrooms available for garden visitors. Great for birdwatching, quiet place.

I visited WRAL Azalea Gardens today, and it was such a relaxing local getaway. The cooler weather made it the perfect day for a stroll. The fountain was one of my favorite parts, and I noticed there’s a mailbox nearby with brochures for visitors. The flowers throughout the gardens were beautiful, especially the sugar maple tree and the Autumn Embers plants β€” both were stunning to see in person. The table and chairs near the Refugee 31 sculpture could have been cleaner. Other than that, I highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for a peaceful walk through nature in Raleigh.

Incredibly beautiful garden. What a treat to be able to come walk along the dirt paths between the many varieties of azaleas. They also have a lot of hydrangeas for blooming later than azaleas but I haven't visited while they're in season. I love coming here every year.

A spectacular place to spend time with family in the lap of the nature this is a whale designed and crafted garden. They even have a toilet for people use. The collection of flower is very magnificent. The colors are very vibrant with a few decoys in there. Absolute best time to visit during the spring when the sun is not that hot very well maintained and the Cleaning is top notch. You can easily spend the day over there.
